(from earlier this morning) "Ayden had a very rough night. His oxygen was at 77 and his heart rate dropped to low as 42 about 15 times in a hours time. Surgery is going on now. Our little 5 pound baby is having a 6in incision and because he was having so many problems they are giving him a 60% chance. They are going to put him back in ICU and keep him on a ventilator. Please all your prayers would be greatly appreciated."
(from this afternoon) "Ayden update: He is out of surgery. Only complication was during surgery they tore his stomach wall but it was repairable. They said the lining of the stomach is very thin so they stitched two layers and put a clamp around it. He is still on a ventilator and after recovery going down to ICU (l love the nurses there any...way). I will update later tonight when we see how he does. Thanks for the prayers."
So, that's all I know at the moment. It breaks my heart that they're having to put him on a ventilator because she fought so hard against it when he was first admitted, but I know that after surgery his body is working hard to heal; it doesn't need the extra stress of trying to remember to breathe. Plus when he's under anesthesia it tends to make it hard on his breathing and his heart. Tonight will be a sleepless night for them for sure.
Work has been very flexible with me as far as giving me time off (if available), but right now I can't afford to take any more days off. I mean, technically I can, but I don't have the flexible time off to cover it, and I surely can't have chunks of time missing from my check. So I'm hoping it won't be necessary for me to take any more time off work.
I'm not 100% certain on this, but from all descriptions of the surgery I'm pretty sure I found the name. It's called fundoplication. I could be wrong on this of course. If I am, I'll be sure to update this.
Have I mentioned I'm ridiculously stressed? oy.
