update time

Well, long time no blog. Like always, I mean to sit down and write, but I never seem to get around to it. Or, like 99% of the time, I just can't motivate myself to write. I used to blog every day for years, but I guess I'm too busy or too lazy now. I don't know.

Life is moving along like it always does. We're currently in the process of looking for an apartment (and by we I mean Aaron, Mike and myself) His mother told us a while back she wanted us to move out by the end of April because she wants to put the house up for sale. She hasn't really said anything to us since then, but we're not going to piddle around about it. Although we did get started a little later than I had liked. But, Aaron just started his job at the Census Bureau, so we wanted to make sure he was making some money before we moved. Obviously, we can't afford to move out if we only had 2/3 of the money we need.

We were going to go apartment hunting last weekend, but as always, life has other plans. My nephew was born last friday, the 19th of March; so we went to the hospital that Saturday instead. Plus Aaron was house-sitting for our friends in Louisville, so he was a little busy.

Ayden Christopher was 6lbs and 9oz and 19 inches long. Jason gave him his middle name for my older brother, Chris. Which is just so sweet. They gave Alex, the first born, Lee as a middle name (which my father and Jason both also have). And then gave Evan the middle name Michael in honor of Amanda's father. I like stuff like that.

Little Ayden was about a month premature. But, he was a lot healthier than they had expected. They actually let him go home 2 days after he was born. Which we're thankful for. He did have a little scare that following monday. Since his lungs aren't completely functioning, he wasn't able to cough up some mucus that was in his lungs. He turned blue and they had to call an ambulance. Luckily my sister in law used to be a nurse, so she was able to do CPR until the EMS could get there. Obviously, he is okay now. Like always, everyone is just taking things one day at a time.

I was going to go visit today, but I've got a killer headache that I can't seem to shake. So I'm going to try to stop by some time this week after work.

I don't know if I've touched much on things going on with them. Mostly I don't want their private life all over the internet, although I reckon if you're reading this you probably know a little back story. Either way, my brother has been in jail since December. Recently they moved him to another housing area for people who have work release. Which is better because he has a little more freedom, can wear his own clothes and obviously leaves every day for work. We had originally thought he was going to be doing this until June, but they took some time off for time-served...so he should be done by the end of April. I'm really excited about that! I miss my brother and have only gotten to see him once or twice since December. Him being home will make their life so much easier. And it'll surely help me sleep a little better at night. I worry a lot. But I know he's trying really hard to get things back in order. Every time I see him with the kids, and with Amanda, I see how good of a man he is. Despite everything, I'm always very proud of him. I hope he knows that.

Anywho, we did finally get around to apartment hunting this weekend. Unfortunately not every place we wanted to look at had office hours on Saturday, but we did get to see 2 places. We're already totally in love with the first place we looked in New Albany. It's 2 bedroom/2 bathroom garden style apartment (not sure what that means.) It's huge, for one thing. Way bigger than any apartment I've ever lived in. Plus it has a giant walk-in closet that I NEED. lol. It also seems really safe. You have to have a key to get into the building before you can get to your apartment. And any guests have to be buzzed in, so it has an intercom system...like in Seinfeld! I'm a nerd, but I think that's cool. Either way, it's in a good location and it's affordable. So I think we're going to jump on it this week. I mean, naturally we have to be approved, but I'm hoping there won't be a problem with that.

Like always, I have a tendency to worry. So naturally I'm freaking out thinking they'll deny us. But, there's 3 of us. Aaron has no credit to speak of, but I believe he has some rental history. Mike has no credit, and they don't look at medical bills, so that's not too bad. I have more credit than the both of them, though it's not the best. I just checked my credit report/score to see where I stand since I haven't checked it in a while, and it's better than I thought. I'm 'non-prime', which isn't great, but it's not completely high risk. Having some credit and the car payment helped with that I think. Plus I have more than 2 years at my job and several years of good rental history. So, I mean, why wouldn't we get a place? (this is me trying to talk myself out of thinking the worst, lol)

The other place we looked at was also in New Albany, but it paled in comparrison to the first place. It was also 2 bedroom, but only 1 bathroom. I mean, we would prefer two if at all possible, but we know that we may need to compromise. It was also much smaller, but only maybe $50 cheaper than the first place. I mean, for as much as they want, you might as well pay a little more for the bigger/nicer place. It was with in walking distance of Sporstime (our favorite pizza place), but that's not enough to make us move there. Although I guess it's always an option if we can't find something else.

At this point I'm just hoping the first place doesn't get snatched out from under us. I hate to get my hopes up and have them stomped out. Although I should prepare myself for that.

There were a few other places we really wanted to look, but like I said, their offices weren't open on Saturdays. Luckily I had already asked off for this friday for other reasons...so we're going to go looking at a few other places that are open then. One other place that seems promising is a complex close to IUS. They seem to have places open quite often, and their townhomes are actually a little cheaper. So that would be a good option too. We just need to go look and get more information.

We had thought about renting a house, but so far I haven't seen any places we can afford. Most of the places in Georgetown are either too expensive to rent, or they have propane tanks that you have to fill...which is also super expensive. You usually have to fill the whole tank at once, which is super pricey. So, we want to avoid that. Plus in a rental you usually have to pay for everything like you would a house (utilities-wise anyway) So I figured we might as well get an apartment where more utilities are paid for and where you have reliable maintenance to fix anything that might break. That's certainly what I hated about having my own house (for the 3 months I lived there!) It was expensive and more worrysome that you'd think.

So, that's that really. Nothing else terribly exciting is going on here.

I'll be sure to update when we know more about our potential new home. Wish us luck!
