Blah, I'm terribly bored right now. I'm not in nearly as much pain as I was two days ago though, so I'm thankful for that.
I did end up going to Mike's mom's for thanksgiving. It was difficult getting up and down out of the car, but once I was seated I was ok. It was nice to get out of the house and to be able to eat normally. I didn't get to eat a whole lot because I was slightly nauseated, but there wasn't anything I couldn't eat. (although so far I've been trying not to eat too heavily just to be safe)
At first pretty much everything was painful, especially getting in and out of bed. Slowly though, things are getting much better. Getting in and out of bed is still painful though, and I have to sleep on my back which I really hate. I can bend down slightly now but only if I sort of sit with my knees. (bending straight over would be a bad time) I still can't stand up straight and coughing and laughing hard is super painful. I got a tickle in my throat yesterday morning and had to cough so bad, it felt like my guts were ripping apart. I've been having some pain in my right shoulder too, which is apparently normal (it has something to do with the nerves that are connected through your body....somehow some in your abdomen are connected to your shoulder)
I did finally get to take a shower yesterday, which was more difficult than I thought it would be. Since I can't stand up straight my back starts hurting if I stand for too long. Which sucks. It was nice to wash my hair and wash off my wounds though. I was able to take off the gauze, but I have to leave the steri-strips on I guess until I go back to the doctor on wednesday. The gauze pads made it seem like my wounds were huge, but once they came off I realized how small they are. I have one just above my navel, a bigger one a couple inches above that, and two smaller ones on the right side just below my ribs. I have very little pain from the smaller incisions, but of course I have more from the one at the top since it's bigger. It's the one that they actually pulled the gallbladder out through. They told Mike after my surgery that they had to make it a little bigger than usual I guess because my gallbladder was too big for the incision. I'm pretty glad they didn't have to decide mid-surgery to make a huge incision. (it happens sometimes)
I have to say, I'm getting really bored sitting at home. I'm feeling much much better than even yesterday, but not good enough to actually do anything around the house. I can't lift more than 10 pounds for the next 3 weeks, so I can't do much of anything. I really want to do laundry because it's starting to pile up, but I can't bend down to do it. So, my days so far have consisisted of sitting on the recliner, surfing the internet and watching tv. And I have 4 more days of this. Fun!
I was hoping that I could get to work earlier than thursday, but I don't know if that'll happen. I'm really not keen on the idea of missing so much work, but I don't want to hurt myself either. So what can you do?
At the moment I'm waiting for Mike to get home from work so I can at least have some human interaction for the day. I would actually like to get out of the house, but I don't know what I'll be able to do. At this point I'd be happy to even just go to the grocery store. (I'll get to use one of those motorized scooters, yay! lol)
That's about it for my update now....more updates to come.
